"Every Engineer's Biography"
4 years, 40 subjects, 400 experiments, 4000 assignments, 40000 hours. A normal human being cannot do it. Those super heroes are called 'Engineering students'.
Engineering has its own charm.
After getting admitted in engineering college, we as a student who has just completed their high school starts thinking everything will be like the movie "3 idiots", but in real that's just our assumption.
College is going to be nothing less than a roller coaster ride and it will teach us things that we never thought we would learn.
As we enter the first year of our engineering course we get to know the real heroes are our senior. Seniors are always right and imparts us the real gyaan that we need to know.
Every fresher at an engineering College knows that and redirects their seniors accordingly. Things we learn from our seniors include the fact that just GPAs don't matter, extra-curricular activites are equally important for landing a good job placement.
We have just entered our engineering course and here comes assignments. One thing that never leaves engineering students in 4 years are the assignments! Even if we get enough time to complete them, we will delay it till the final week and eventually end up copying the whole assignment, a night before the submission, from that one nerdy girl in the batch who finishes her assignments on time, always!
The only spot which we visit more than classes in our college campus is canteen. Because what can be a better place to chill with friends over a cup of coffee than the college canteen? We will always find the canteen overcrowded and even if the menu is not appealing, the ambiance and charm deserve full marks. We will always find groups of students chatting, singing or debating over current issues in the country. Our gang is the canteen guy's favourite, so we even end up getting free food sometimes.
And when it comes to attending classes except for nerds, every students attend classes only to maintain 75% attendence. we even hate attending some classes because of boring lecturers, most of which goes over head. So bunking becomes a routine until we get a warning letter for low attendance and start attending classes formally only for maintaining 75% attendence (for majority). So proxy is the only thing which saves our shortage of attendance.
There are two types of engineering students. Those who wake up at 4 in the morning and those who go to sleep at 4 in the morning. It is another matter, that the hours spent waking up are not always utilized for studying! So short naps during classes is the only time where we complete our sleep(especially back benchers). Daily coming late to classes are habit of engineering students.
We are in the relationship with a strong beverage like coffee or tea. Infact, engineering students never have enough time for a full-fledged breakfast. Our meals are always in the go.
Engineers being one of the laziest creatures in earth will save everything for the last moment and exams are no exception. All those classes, practicals and lectures might go over our head throughtout the semester, but the night before exam, we end up completing a 3000 page books.
Also many of us get so used to 'backlogs' that exams don't scare us anymore. No matter how well we plan our semester to get a decent GPA score, we have to deal with many bouncers (surprise tests, endless assignments, group projects) which ultimately result in a not so impressive final GPA score.
Once you are in engineering College, you will know that backlogs and supplementry exams are a part of your 4 year degree course and there is nothing you can do about it. Unless you attend all classes regularly, take notes and study well. And you should be very careful especially if u are a student pursuing your engineering course from Karnataka in any of the VTU colleges. because here you will get backlogs.why? here government needs money from all the students applying for Revaluation...need not worry because your Revaluation result will make you happy, because your backlog subject will be cleared.
Tech fests and cultural fest happening just once in a year and it is the only time when we are free to bunk the classes without worrying about our attendance and show our creativity like making cool gadgets or dancing with our BFFs in college.
Trust no one! Especially that one friend who says she has not even touched her books the night before the exam, yet ends up asking 2-3 extra answer sheets.
And then comes the lab exam. In writing and performing the experiment we are masters, but the real problem is viva which are asked by external evaluators. when the day of viva dawn's everyone are equally clueless. The first one to come out after the viva Q & A session gets haunted by the rest!
There will be time when many wish if they could quit, but there are friends and professors to guide us and cheer us up in difficult times.
Semester breaks in engineer colleges mean going home for those who stay far away from home. It also means staying away from friends for a while, but now that technology has advanced so much, we can always stay in touch through social media and once when we are back, we cannot wait to meet our friends again and have endless fun together!
In short engineering students are the most efficient creatures world would ever get!
They know to write half a dozen of assignments in a night.
They know how to deal with professors with the innovative answers that they come up with.
They know how to make excuses without sounding awkward.
They have solution of every problem.
That is what an Engineer.
Hope you enjoyed it.........
